Course overview

This is part two of the beginners ESOL course. It is a continuation from part 1. This course is for people who live in Coventry who are beginners in learning English. It is a face-to-face course. The course will help you to start using English every day ready to apply for work in the UK. It will also improve your confidence to speak to people in English in other everyday situations, like going to the doctor, shopping, using public transport and speaking to your child’s teachers. You will start to learn some of the words and phrases needed to feel part of your community and become more independent in your life in the UK. This course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority

Course description

In part 1, you will have started to learn English to prepare you for applying for work, helping with basic communication skills. This course is for people who live in Coventry and are beginner level in English. It is a face-to-face course. You will continue to learn some of the language needed to apply for work and also at work. You will practise your speaking and listening skills alongside reading and writing in English. We will help you to start becoming more confident to talk to people in English in your local community and also to become more independent so you don’t have to rely on others to translate everything. Some of the things we will cover in this course include:

• Reading and writing simple words

• Communicating basic needs

• Asking and answering simple questions

• Naming places in the community

After you have completed this short course, you can move on to further courses in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), maths, digital skills or other work-related skills. Some of these courses lead to formal qualifications.

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need.
