Course overview

This six-week course is for those whose first language is NOT English. It is an intermediate (B1) level course and you should already be familiar with a basic grasp of the English Language in order to join this course. The sessions will develop your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Lessons will be delivered face-to-face using a range of teacher led and freer interactive activities to develop your proficiency and confidence. In addition to a focus on general pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary, you will be encouraged to reflect on the English you hear around you and bring new vocabulary and expressions into the classroom to share.

Course description

In this six-week ESOL course, (English for Speakers of Other Languages) you will have the opportunity to practice your reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through topics such as food, sport, family, personality and money. Areas of grammar covered will include present tense: simple and continuous, action and non-action verbs. Past tense: simple, continuous, perfect. Future forms: going to, present continuous, will/shall, present perfect and past simple. During this friendly and inclusive course, you will be able to engage in a variety of activities such as games, role plays, songs, exercises, pair and group discussions, presentations, as well as Q & A aimed to help you develop and deepen your mastery of the English language. The written assignment for the course will be a description of someone’s appearance and personality. There will be an opportunity for you to check your own progression through a summative assessment at the end of the course. You will need to bring your own notebooks and pens, but all other course materials will be provided.

Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need.
