WEA are proud to deliver this course in partnership with Stockport Continuing Education Service. This course is intended for learners already at Entry Level 3 on their ESOL pathway who require some extra support to learn the specialist vocabulary and employability skills related to care work. After this course learners may continue their studies by joining our Step into Care programme leading to a work placement in a care setting.

Course description

Follow & give verbal & written instructions.

Identify skills & qualities needed for the care industry

Recognising own barriers to employment

Use the 24 hour clock as part of a care plan

Gather and record information on forms

This is a targeted wrap-around course for Entry 3 ESOL learners. It is designed to lead on to study on a vocational care course. It is not an accredited course.

The aim of this programme is to help you learn the specialist vocabulary and employability skills related to care work.

ESOL for Care Work is a vocational ESOL course for adults already studying with Stockport Continuing Education Service.

Before you can enrol on this course, you’ll do a skills check. Don’t worry, this isn’t an exam. It’s for us to make sure you get on the right course for your level. Our friendly team will contact you to start your skills check as part of your booking.

When you complete this introductory course, you will be ready to move on to a vocational care pathway or to continue your ESOL journey at Level 1.

What to expect

This course takes 72 hours to complete. It gives you more opportunities to learn the skills required to progress into care work.

What financial support is available?

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.

All of our digital content, teaching and learning activities and assessments are designed to be accessible so if you need any additional support you can discuss this with the education experts during your enrolment journey and we will do all we can to make sure you have optimal access.
