Course overview
Course description
The Confidence in your Community course gives learners the chance to get to know their local community and improve their knowledge of their local amenities in order for them to engage more locally, offering them the chance to interact more with neighbours and locals as well as improving their lives in the UK overall.
The course is offered as one session and will be for around 2 hours. Learners will gain local knowledge as well as building their confidence in using their speaking and listening skills as they will be comfortable to make mistakes in a familiar environment with peers and a tutor they know.
The course is designed for ESOL learners who have just completed either an unaccredited or accredited course with the WEA and is a unique approach to ensuring that the learners are confident in using their learned skills, whatever level of ESOL they have just participated in.
Tutors will engage their cohorts in whatever activities they believe to be most beneficial for their learners and at the correct level for them. These activities will give them the opportunity to expand their vocabulary, their local knowledge and more about life in the UK in an informal manner enhancing their confidence in engaging more locally.
