Sewing for your own business

This online course is suitable for you if you want to develop your knowledge and creative sewing skills to make or adapt your own clothes to 'made to measure' . Skills to be covered include: measuring and calculating, using dress-making patterns, cutting fabrics and using a sewing machine. You will also carry out independent research to find and share inspiration for your sewing projects. You will create at least one garment of your own using new fabric with an invisible zip. You will explore different fabrics and identify the qualities and advantages of each one. We will also cover skills such as various seam finishes, ways of inserting zips, adding pockets etc. Alongside increasing confidence with sewing skills, you will also develop your digital skills by uploading examples of your work and commenting on your progress. Your experienced and knowledgeable tutor will provide regular feedback to support you to make progress and improve your confidence. By the end of the course, you will have created some unique and beautiful items. You should have some knowledge in sewing . With hands-on guidance, you'll gain proficiency in adjusting patterns and garments to achieve the perfect fit, empowering you to express your unique style with confidence.
