Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.

Course description
Gain further knowledge of craft techniques and improve your craftsmanship. Understand the safety procedures you should follow when working with crafting materials. Research successful craftspeople and enterprises to gain an understanding of employment opportunities in the craft sector.
Explore how you can monetise your skills if you’d like to make money from your handicrafts. You may be interested in part-time creative jobs, creative side hustles to supplement your income, or work-from-home options.
Improve your CV with these universal craft skills all employers look for in the creative sector.
Art courses are available at different levels. Short, medium, and long courses, called Awards, Certificates, and Diplomas, are available. Longer courses take more time but help you to learn more skills in your field. Your WEA tutor can help you choose the length of course which suits you.
This course is a Certificate. To get your qualification you need to achieve 15 credits. This usually takes around 150 hours.
After taking this course you can do a Level 3 Certificate in Creative Craft, or another creative discipline.
You will be assessed by producing a portfolio of work. This can include sketches, verbal or written reports, and a final prepared creative craft item. Your tutor will guide and support you through the whole learning process.
To study this course you’ll need an internet connection. This is so you can access our digital learning platform, Canvas.
Classrooms haven’t changed much since the WEA was founded in 1903. But our attitude towards learning has. Your satisfaction is our top priority and we will do everything we can to make sure you have a positive experience.
