Course description
This course is designed for individuals who have completed a beginner sewing course and are ready to enhance their skills for personal and professional use. Building on foundational sewing techniques, this course focuses on practical alterations and mending of clothes and home furnishings, addressing the most requested repairs. You will learn to skilfully insert a full zip into cushions or outdoor furnishings, making them look brand new.
The course will cover essential alterations, such as adjusting waistbands with elastic to ensure a perfect fit and tailoring school uniforms in preparation for the new academic year. You will gain hands-on experience in sewing on badges, hemming pants, and letting out waistbands.
Beyond technical skills, this course will encourage you to explore the potential of sewing as a small business. Through guided research, you will discover how to monetize your skills within your communities, understanding market demands and effective marketing strategies. Come along and meet like-minded people while enhancing your sewing skills in a supportive and creative environment.
