Course overview
Course description
This dynamic, non-accredited course is designed for educators, administrators, and support staff to master the essential health and safety protocols within educational settings. Participants will learn to identify and manage potential risks, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. Participants will identify and list three common hazards, such as slips and falls, electrical hazards, and exposure to infectious diseases, emphasizing their impact on students and staff. The course will outline five critical legislative points, including the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations, and the requirements for risk assessments, ensuring compliance and awareness of legal responsibilities. Attendees will learn the correct procedures for reporting various emergencies, including detailed steps for documenting accidents, incidents, injuries, and signs of illness, to foster a prompt and efficient response in critical situations. The program will cover three factors vital for planning safe environments, such as ensuring adequate supervision, maintaining clean and secure facilities, and regularly inspecting both indoor and outdoor areas for potential hazards. Finally, participants will explore the importance of a balanced approach to risk management, focusing on the need to create safe yet stimulating environments, allowing for the healthy development of children while mitigating excessive restrictions that could stifle learning and exploration.
