This is a course, accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project and designed for the charitable public leisure and culture sector by Community Leisure UK. Upon successful completion, learners will be certified Carbon Literate. This course is delivered by WEA in partnership with Community Leisure UK who designed this course by building on their expertise of supporting charities and social enterprises working across public leisure and culture in England, Scotland, and Wales. Through the course you will learn about the basic science of climate change and how climate change will affect us both globally and in the UK. You will develop an understanding of how the charitable public leisure and culture sectors can reduce its climate impact and leverage its influence to support climate action, and by the end of the two sessions you will have the skills to create an action plan to reduce the carbon footprint of your organisation and be able to discuss climate change with confidence. Delivery of the course will include group discussion and reflection, videos and case studies, and activities to complete individually and as a group to aid learning. At the end of their studies, each learner will need to fill out a reflection and evidence form which will be submitted to the Carbon Literacy Project for review.
