Course overview
Course description
This is a fun and interactive course with the aim for learners to develop skills in using British Sign Language. The course is intended as an introduction to sign. The course will not only help learners to develop their sign vocabulary but will also assist them in learning more about deaf culture and some of the barriers that deaf people face in everyday society. Learners will be expected to engage in the use of Canvas to help to gather learning evidence for the learning outcomes for the course. Full support for this will be given and resources will be uploaded to Canvas to support learning outside of session time. Caroline Cleghorn will be the course tutor for this course and she will track and monitor learning progress to fully support all learners to achieve the intended learning outcomes for the course. Throughout the course there will be a range of learning activities that will feature interactive games, activities and discussions during the session time. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and work independently, in pairs and as a group. This will be a unique learning experience where you will develop a vast range of knowledge to further assist you in your next steps for learning British Sign Language.
