Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.
Course overview
Course description
In this six-week ESOL course, (English for Speakers of Other Languages) learners will practice their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through topics such as: wishes; honesty & the origin of words. There will also be an opportunity for learners to suggest topics for study and discussion. Areas of grammar will be: structures after wish; clauses or contrast and purpose; whatever, whenever; relative clauses. Vocabulary focus will be: -ed/-ing adjectives and related verbs; expressions with go; business and advertising and prefixes. Students will engage in a variety of activities, (e.g. games, role plays, songs, exercises, pair-group/group discussions, presentations, Q & A) aimed to help learners develop and deepen their mastery of the English language. The written assignment for the course will be a composition detailing the advantages and disadvantages of being famous. There will be an opportunity for learners to check their own progression through a summative assessment at the end of the course. Learners will need to bring their own notebooks and pens, but course materials will be provided.
