Course overview

This is an ESOL course for adults. You will develop basic English language skills. Before you can enrol on this course, you will need to do a skills check. This is for us to make sure you get on the right course for your level. This course is for people working at Entry 2 level ESOL. You may have completed Entry 1 exams before. Please note that you’ll need an internet connection to study this English course in Writing. This is so you can access our digital learning platform, Canvas. We use Canvas for homework, and also for tasks and activities in the classroom.

Course description

This is an ESOL course for adults. Before you can enrol on this course, you will need to do a skills check. This is for us to make sure you get on the right course for your level. This course is for people working at Entry 2 level ESOL.

This course will help you to improve your English in all skills – reading, writing, speaking and listening – but the focus will be on speaking and listening

You should be able to ask for and give simple information, follow simple instructions, and listen for information in everyday situations.

There are 5 learning outcomes on this course. You will need to achieve these outcomes in order to pass the course. You are expected to attend the classes regularly and be punctual. You are expected to participate in class and complete any homework given by the tutor.

On this course you will learn to:

• identify the main points in a short listening text

• answer questions about who, what, when, where why, and how.

• talk about yourself in the past, using past simple tense

• say what you are doing now, using present continuous tense

• ask questions to get information in a range of everyday situations.
