Course overview

This is an ESOL course for adults. You will develop basic English language skills. Before you can enrol on this course, you will need to do a skills check. This is for us to make sure you get on the right course for your level. This course is for people working at Pre-entry or Entry 1 level ESOL. Please note that you’ll need an internet connection to study this English course in Writing. This is so you can access our digital learning platform, Canvas. We use Canvas for homework, and also for tasks and activities in the classroom.

Course description

This is an ESOL course for adults. Before you can enrol on this course, you will need to do a skills check. This is for us to make sure you get on the right course for your level. This course is for people working at Pre-entry level ESOL.

This course will help you to improve your English in all skills – reading, writing, speaking and listening. You will build your confidence in using English, and you will learn about the culture and customs of the UK.

You should already know some basic English and be able to ask and answer questions about simple personal information. You should be able to write your details, eg name, address, email and phone number in English. You should already know the English alphabet.

There are 5 learning outcomes on this course. You will need to achieve these outcomes in order to pass the course. You are expected to attend the classes regularly and be punctual. You are expected to participate in class and complete any homework given by the tutor.

By the end of the course you will be able to...

• use new vocabulary for everyday life (at least 10 new words)

• write some sentences about where you live

• correctly complete a form asking for information

• listen to some questions and answer them

• tell someone about you and the area you live in

Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
