Course overview

A 6 week course is for those whose first language is NOT English and aims to improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening in English. The course will use the theme of different countries and the learners’ own lives to practise English in a meaningful way. It will include individual, pair and group work with opportunities to improve all four skills. We will use the topic of ‘Technology for Communication and Entertainment’ to practice describing problems and solutions, giving instructions and writing reports.

Course description

During this 6 week ESOL course, (English for Speakers of Other Languages) you will practice your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills through the topic of 'Technology'. You will listen for instructions, give instructions, make comparisons, describe problems, prepare and write reports and practice skim reading skills. You will have group discussions and learn vocabulary for making suggestions, practice interviewing someone and write using reported speech. The course will incorporate an element of pronunciation based on identified needs of the learners and we will seek to build on lexis and language from the previous Everyday English course.
