You will learn basic conversational skills such as giving and asking for personal information from friends and neighbours, as well as employment and learning based vocabulary. You will have chance to mix with others, and develop your conversational skills together. Our courses are free for most of our learners, but please bring proof of eligibility when you come to enrol. Using the rich variety of plants and flowers that surround the Tumbly Hill Centre in Kingsbridge, this friendly and inclusive course will offer the opportunity for you to study a different flower each week, then learn how to draw it with accuracy and confidence. By studying each plant closely you will be able to interpret its structure and colours in all their complexity. This is a relaxing and meditative watercolour painting class for those who are interested in exploring and finding out more about the Natural world, as well as producing paintings of great beauty.

If you wonder how people uncover information in the public interest that would usually remain in the dark, this course on investigative journalism is for you. on this course you will learn how investigative journalists conduct their investigations and how they report them especially if they would otherwise likely go unreported. Alongside this you will also debate the best ways to plan and investigative story and the sources which may be available to do this, as well as getting a brief introduction to the legal and regulatory aspects of journalism. No previous experience of the study of journalism is necessary. Everyone is welcome to join this fascinating course.

Join me in a course open to absolute beginners right through to those who have a little experience in aromatherapy. Designed to encourage, motivate, support and educate individuals to embrace aromatherapy and incorporate into everyday life. You may have your own oils that you can bring to the session. This course will inform you of a wide range of herbaceous oils, where they grow, what they are good for and a little history of each oil. We will also cover carrier oils that complement this subject and methods of applying oils to the body and indeed around the house. Comprehensive notes will be provided on Canvas for you to download and refer to. This course encourages individuals to share and discuss your aromatherapy journey through online discussion groups and feedback during the teaching session. My aim is for you to incorporate oils into your everyday life and for you to share your newfound knowledge with your friends and family. You may have your own oils that you want to bring to the session and/or you may want to purchase the range of oils prior to the course but this is not mandatory. Many of our learners simply enjoy learning about the range of oils Mother Nature has on offer.

This is the next stage course for entry level learners to continue their ESOL classes in the community. During the course you will continue to learn basic English that will help you better explore and take part in your local community and to help build your employability skills for work. Before you can join the course, your English skills will be checked with a short test so that the tutor can make sure that the class is right for you. This course is for people with little English. You do not need any ESOL qualifications to join.

Digital courses online offer you learning for life and work. You’ll learn digital skills to help you in your everyday life. This course could also help you progress to job roles that require digital work skills. When you complete this course, you can progress to Improver’s Digital Skills. Depending on whether your needs are personal or professional, you can also progress to an accredited Digital Skills qualification. If you’re not sure which course is right for you, your tutor can help you decide which options fit your preferences. You’ll need access to the internet to take this course as your tutor will upload useful materials to Canvas, the WEA’s digital learning platform. You’ll also need a digital device such as a laptop, tablet, or phone. Your learning is our priority. The WEA is an adult education provider and we pride ourselves on our ability to create a friendly classroom atmosphere, in person and online! Your tutor will support you through your learning journey, every step of the way. Most of our courses are free for most of our learners.
