Course description
Signing up to the Hand Embroidery courses will provide you with a great way to learn a practical craft, get to know people in your community and practise your English. All of the mini courses are two hours and take you through a number of steps to begin or restart your Hand Embroidery journey, in a relaxing and fun way.
The first mini course will take you through several basic hand embroidery stitches that can be used in the follow-on courses. Stitches you will learn include running stitch, chain stitch and blanket stitch.
During the second course you will learn how to make a felt needle case book, cutting the fabric, assembling the book and stitching the pieces together to make your finished item. There will be a selection of colours in felt and thread that you can choose your own combinations from.
The last course will teach you how to use basic embroidery stitches to create patterns and give your hand embroidery a decorative look, if you attended course two you will be able to do your stitching on your Needle Case.
Completing these sessions will help you to progress onto further community learning courses including sewing, textiles, maths and English.
