Course description
This course will be taught through Zoom with the use of Canvas as an online learning platform. Learners will be expected to take part in an online quiz to evidence that the learning outcome for the course has been achieved. Full support and guidance will be given to ensure that everyone is able to achieve. The course will focus on the differences between people being born into the deaf and hearing world. Considerations will be made relating to the different opportunities that society offers deaf people in comparison to the hearing people. A range of learning materials and resources will be used to help learners to understand the information being presented to them. Learners will develop some BSL vocabulary subject specific to the learning content to the course. Learners will develop a greater knowledge of difficulties experienced by deaf people and how hearing people can help to make work and education settings more inclusive to their deaf peers.
