What are life skills?

Simply put, they are skills that make everyday life easier. Life skills include cooking, budgeting, communicating with others, health, well-being and managing emotions. Sometimes this means learning new things, and sometimes it means building on things you already know.

Sometimes adulting can be hard. These courses can help make it feel just that bit easier, make you feel more independent and empower you to face the future ahead.

Managing Hearing Loss

This programme of courses is aimed at people who are either personally impacted by hearing loss or want to learn more about how to support people with hearing loss. The programme will include a basic introduction to the essentials of using British Sign Language - to include skills such as fingerspelling and numbers, some greetings and useful signs for the workplace will be covered. Care 2: Find Out About Nutrition

On this course we shall find out about the macro and micro nutrients in our diets; what they are, what they do, how they change over our lifetimes and why we need them. We will also look at different types of diet (not slimming ones!); vegetarian, vegan, gluten/lactose free, flexitarian and so on, and identify the pros and cons of them. We shall cover essential vitamins and minerals, current dietary advice, and look at the nutritional information on food labels.
