This "Introduction to the Early Years Practitioner" course is designed for beginners seeking foundational knowledge in early childhood education and care. You will learn essential safeguarding procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of children in Early Years settings. The course covers the development of babies and young children from birth to 7 years, with a focus on the crucial 0-5 years. Key topics include health and safety, safeguarding, special educational needs, and the promotion of play. A separate digital session is also arranged to get familiar with our Virtual Learning Platform, Canvas. Upon successful completion, you can progress to a Level 2 Qualification in Early Years Practitioner with WEA.

"Introduction to Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools" is designed for anyone interested in gaining essential knowledge and skills to work with children and young people in educational settings. This course provides a comprehensive foundation in understanding schools as organisations, safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion. Learners will also explore key aspects of health and safety and how to support positive behaviour in the learning environment. You will be able to understand the UK policies and procedures covering confidentiality, data protection and disclosure of information. Upon successful completion, you will be prepared to progress to a Level 2 Qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning with the WEA, opening opportunities for a career in education support roles.

Studying support work in schools at level 2 can be a first step towards working with children in teaching positions.

On this course for beginners you will look at simple skincare and makeup for women, focussing on natural ingredients and items you may have at home. By combining theory with practical skills, this course empowers individuals to make informed choices, promoting healthier skin and to gain the skills to apply makeup to a good level. There will be an enrolment session on 5th September at 10-2. Please bring photographic ID, proof of address and proof of benefits (if applicable). Learners cannot attend the first session of the course unless fully enrolled.
