Building Better Opportunities (BBO)

Big Lottery Fund is matching funds from the European Social Fund (ESF) 2014-2020 to invest in local projects tackling the root causes of poverty, promoting social inclusion and driving local jobs and growth.

The WEA is the UKs largest voluntary sector provider of adult education in England and Scotland. We offer a generous 30 days annual leave, plus bank holidays in addition to closing Christmas week (pro-rata for part-time staff), together with a pension scheme (subject to eligibility).

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Finance Team in the role of BBO Compliance Officer reporting to the Education Projects Accountant.

The successful applicant will ensure that project teams throughout the WEA and partner organisations are compliant with BBO requirements. You will collate, analyse and organise the retention of project evidence or provide help to key staff members/partners undertaking this. You will develop and undertake the audit process of the financial and monitoring information in readiness for project funders’ audit visits.

  • Do you have grant and project management experience (Big Lottery & European funding advantageous)?
  • Can you analyse complex and multiple data sets aided by your excellent Microsoft Excel and database skills?
  • Can you show that you have worked with financial budgets, forecasts & reporting?
  • Are you a comfortable communicator and able to influence colleagues to follow rules and deadlines?
  • Can you show that you have worked in a regulatory environment or similar?
