Learning with the WEA is exciting and rewarding, whatever your interest or level. Our courses are informal and friendly and we are Matrix-accredited, meaning that you will get high quality information and advice. Everyone is welcome and your views and experience will be valued, whatever course you choose; and if we don’t have the right course for you, we can usually point you in the right direction through our network of partner organisations. Many of our courses are non-accredited (no tests, exams or qualifications) and require no previous knowledge of the subject, so there’s no pressure to achieve a particular standard - just the pleasure of increasing your knowledge and experience, and the opportunity to meet new people. Other courses we run do lead to qualifications and are designed to help you to reach a recognised standard.
You can sometimes attend the first course session without obligation (check with the branch or our regional office first), so you don’t have to commit before you know its right for you. You’ll have the opportunity to learn with knowledgeable tutors whose skills are regularly assessed, and we encourage our learners to have a say in the planning of their own learning wherever possible.
If you know what sort of course you want to do - or where in the UK you want to study - use our course search to find one now. If you’re not sure which course is right for you, or have questions about course fees or learning support, our Learner Support Centre may be able to help. We’ll do all we can to help you get learning!
